Grez-sur-Loing is located near Fontainebleau, 70 km southeast of Paris. It is easiest to get here on weekdays when the bus service to Grez-sur-Loing from Melun is more frequent.

If you are flying to Paris, we recommend taking an early day flight as the travel time from the airports to Grez-sur-Loing is between two and three hours.

If you are traveling by car, keep in mind that the traffic around Paris is heavy and that you should allow plenty of time.

Traveling by car

Car Parking

Hôtel Chevillon does not have its own car park. Cars can be parked for free on the side with odd house numbers. Parking is not allowed on the side with even house numbers.

Yellow markings: Parking is prohibited at yellow markings

Blue markings: Means that time-limited parking is possible.

Parking area: There is a small parking area on rue Victor Hugo. Ask the superintendent for advice if you intend to park the car for a longer period without moving it.

Traveling by train and bus

  1. When you arrive at Charles de Gaulle Airport - take the train to Gare de Lyon train station. You first have to take RER B to Chatelet Les Halles and there change to RER A to Gare de Lyon - just cross over to the other side of the platform (see timetable below).
  2. Once you have arrived at Gare de Lyon in Paris go to Hall 1 upstairs, take a train to MELUN. There is a train every 10 minutes during rush hour, otherwise every 20 minutes.
  3. Get off the train at the Gare de MELUN station (here your tickets and NAVIGO cards - see below - will be inspected). Exit to the front of the station building. There you take a left on Avenue Thiers. After about 300 meters go down left to the passage under the railway to the street called Place de l'Ermitage. The bus stop is just after that. The walk takes about 5 minutes. Look for the stop where the sign indicates «BUS 34 / SEINE & MARNE Express».
  4. With bus 34/SEINE & MARNE Express it's 4 stops to Grez, 2 stops in Fontainebleau, then in Bourron-Marlotte (Pavé du Roy) and then in Grez-sur-Loing (the name of the bus stop in Grez-sur-Loing is Les Fours). The bus ride from Melun to Grez-sur-Loing takes about 55 minutes.
  5. Once in Grez-sur-Loing you have about a 10-minute walk to Hôtel Chevillon. Look at the map below to find the way, you have to cross the main road that the bus comes on by going through the passage under the road.
